The truth about calories & chemicals

We love organic gardening and never use chemicals. Our three main ingredients when installing a new landscape or garden include:

1. Right plant, right place

2. Hardwood Mulch

3. Organic compost

Keeping it simple (and natural) is always best. Save the money you would have spent on harmful chemicals and buy a new favorite plant (or two)!

Garden Tip! Keep DIGGING!

Fall is a GREAT time to PLANT woody ornamentals. The cooler temperatures and increased rainfall help plants establish quicker and reduce the need for supplemental watering!

When planting, remember to score the roots on any plant grown in a plastic pot.  Use a knife to cut the roots vertically (like cutting a two-layer birthday cake) about every 3 to 5 inches around the plant.  Pruning the roots promotes new root growth and gets them growing out of the shape of the pot.  ~Michigan Gardener
